GOD OVERRULES

The wrath of man can be made to praise God and work out good.So can the design by  evil men be turned to the advantage of the good. The winter of 1874 was a very severe one in Palestine.Snow lay in the streets and on the flat roofs to a depth of several feet and by its weight many houses were crushed. In February a terrible storm raged in Gaza.During the night a thief entered one of the houses. He ransacked the lower appartments, laying his plunder ready to carry away. Then he entered the sleeping appartment occupied by the father and the mother of a baby. The baby was sleeping in a cradle and showed signs of waking and fearing that he would be betrayed by the crying baby,he carried the cradle outside, laying it down near the door. The child began to cry and awakened the mother, who ran towards where the cradle should have been. Not finding it,she called the father, who, hearing the cries, replied,"It is crying out-of-doors.How can that be?"Both of them ran outside, but no sooner had they got out- the roof caved in on account of the pressure of the snow.
The robber was found beneath the ruins with the stolen wealth in his possession. The father, mother and the child were unharmed, saved by the robber's greed and craft.
He was only carrying out his own evil desires but God used him for the salvation of the household.

Princely Kindness

An aged man, whose sight was very nearly gone, was one day on " the isle of safety " in Piccadilly Circus,London, waiting with some anxiety for an opportunity to cross through the unceasing traffic.
A young man approached and offered his guidance, and this was thankfully accepted.
The road being crossed, the dim eyes of the old man observed that several hats were raised as the rescuer, having guided him across the pavement passed quietly into the throng of passing people. Someone
from the crowd approached the old man and asked if he knew who had helped him across the thoroughfare. "No, but he was exceedingly kind to me,' was the reply. He was greatly surprised when he learned that it was the amiable and thoughtful Prince of Wales who had done this kindly service

ROASTED BEETS

Roasting dramatically intensifies the flavour, texture and colour of many vegetables. It is important to remember not to pierce or cut into the beet  before cooking,so leave at least an inch of stem and root on the beet when you trim them. Otherwise they will bleed away their colour, flavour and vitaminsOnce cooked and peeled, the beets are ready for use in any recipe.

8 raw medium beets
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
2. Rinse the beets well and trim the stem and roots, leaving 1 inch of each on the beets.
3. Wrap the beets individually in aluminium foil, place them on a baking sheet and bake until tender, about  one and half hours. Remove from the oven and let it stand until cool enough to handle.Wearing rubber gloves if you dont want to dye your fingers, unwrap the beets and slip the skins off.Cover and store inthe refrigerator until ready to use.
Serve 4 to 6 in desired recipes.
